Professor Michalakakou is a Physicist with a PhD in Heat and mass transfer analysis when an earth-to-air heat exchangers system is used for space cooling. She has a deep knowledge in Environmental Physics while she received extended recognition through her citations (>3300) and h-factor (35) in Scopus. She has supervised many PhD students and supported diploma students in environmental and building research subjects. Dr Panagiota Pimenidou is a lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bradford (UK), Programme leader of the BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Stephanos Nitodas, Research Programs Manager at Glonatech S.A. and Lecturer at Stonybrook Campus of SUNY (The State University of New York), graduated with the Diploma of Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and with a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering & Materials Science from the University of Rochester, New York. He has been awarded the Morris Cohen Distinguished Award of the Corrosion Division of the Electrochemical Society for the innovation work of his Ph.D. thesis (2001). Dr. Nitodas possesses extensive experience in chemical vapor deposition systems and technologies for the production of nanostructured carbon of various forms (carbon nanotubes and graphene). He has developed several nanotechnology-based polymer materials for high-tech industrial fields (3D printing, electronics, coatings, transportation) and established important research collaborations with major industrial partners, such as British Airways and Thales.
Dr. Nitodas has served as Scientific Consultant to the Deputy Minister of Education, Greece (2010-2012) in terms of preparation of research calls descriptions and implementation of guides for new research programs. He has given lectures and presentations with relation to nanotechnology applications and their engineering design, chemical engineering (thermodynamics, reaction engineering, process control) and nanomaterials synthesis and characterization.
Dr. Nitodas has participated as leading scientist/coordinator in 6 national and European research projects, and as principal scientist in 10 other research projects. He is the author of 24 publications and the co-inventor of 1 international (PCT) patent, whereas he has presented technical papers in over 40 international conferences. Dr. Alexandra Ioannidou, External Collaborator from the Institute of Materials Science in NCSR 'Demokritos' Alexandra received her PhD thesis in 2011 in the field of hydrogen storage in intermetallics. She holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences and she has participated in three European Research Programs (HYSTORY, DIAMANTE, DECADE) and in a bilateral program Greece-Slovenia by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, Greece. Mr. Petros Papanaoum now at ERGON Engineers
Petros Papanaoum has graduated the University of Western Macedonia holding the Dipl.-Eng. of Department of Mechanical Engineering. He’s chosen to specialize into the Structural Division of the Department. His Diploma Thesis: “Magnetic Brakes Analysis Using COMSOL Multiphysics” was under the supervision of Dr. Sofoklis S. Makridis. He has been afforded a unique opportunity to hold experience in research, modeling and design magnetic devices such as magnetic brakes, magnetic clutches, magnetic suspension etc. His scientific interests are directed in consideration and development of new materials for industrial use for performance optimization in electromechanical devices and structures and development of innovator micro- and nano-devices using appropriate materials.

He has gained a lot of experience on the production and characterization of nanostructured/composite materials for energy applications, working as a pre-diploma and diploma student at the Environmental Technology Laboratory of the same university, under supervision and guidance of Dr. Sofoklis S. Makridis. Moreover, he has been involved at the "NESSHY" Project, for researching on solid-state hydrogen storage materials. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the Environmental Research Laboratory, NCSR "Demokritos", Greece, under supervision of Dr. Athanasios K. Stubos & Dr. Sofoklis S. Makridis on the field of Metal Hydride for Hydrogen Compressors. Being a member of this latter laboratory, he is being involved at the ATLAS-H2 Project, employed as an Early Stage Researcher on Hydrogen Storage in Solids by McPhy Energy S.A., France. His main activities are synthesis and characterization of intermetallic compounds for hydrogen storage, PCT measurements and CAD designing of multiple laboratory devices.

Her Diploma Thesis “Simulink of Case Studies on the Efficiency of PEMFC Fuel CellsThrough Modeling with MATLAB” was under the supervision of Dr. Sofoklis S. Makridis.
